If we are using something of yours
Tell us and we will take it down.
The site publishes its own writing and its own artwork, plus short quotations and screenshots used to describe a tool, which we believe is fair use. But if you own something here and want it gone, that is enough of a reason. We would rather remove a screenshot than argue about one.
What to send
Email [email protected] with DMCA in the subject, and include:
- What the work is — enough to identify it, and where the original lives if it is online.
- Where it is on this site — the URL of the page, and which part of it.
- How to reach you — an email address is fine; a name and a phone number make it faster.
- A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by you, your agent or the law.
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate, and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them. Under penalty of perjury, if you want the notice to have that weight.
- Your signature, physical or electronic. Typing your name at the bottom is an electronic signature.
We answer takedown notices before anything else. You will hear back either way.
The designated agent
Not yet registered. The US Copyright Office's designated-agent directory is how a site claims the DMCA safe harbour, and kink.ong has not filed yet.
We are telling you this rather than implying otherwise, because a page that names an agent who is not in the directory is worse than a page that admits there is not one. Until the filing is done, send notices to the address above: they are read by a person and acted on the same way, and nothing about that changes when the paperwork catches up.
Counter-notice
If something of yours was removed and you think that was wrong, write and say so. Include what was removed, where it was, and why you believe it was a mistake or a misidentification.
We will put it back or explain why not. We do not need a lawyer's letter to reconsider something; we need a reason.
Repeat infringement
An account used repeatedly to post material that infringes somebody else's copyright is closed. Comments are the only thing anybody but us can publish here, they are approved by a person before they appear, and that approval is where this mostly gets handled before it becomes a notice.
What we log
Every takedown and restoration is recorded in the site's audit log: what, when, and which person did it.
