How this site makes money

Right now: it doesn't

kink.ong has no advertising, no sponsors, no affiliate deals and no paid placements. It costs money to run and it earns nothing. This page exists so that when that changes, the change is visible rather than discovered.

If that changes

Some links to tools may one day be affiliate links, meaning we are paid if you sign up through one. If that happens:

• Every affiliate link is marked where it appears — on the link, not in small print at the bottom of the page.
• A listing is never bought. Nobody can pay to appear here, to rank higher, to be described more kindly, or to have criticism removed. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the change is in the changelog.
• The money never moves a tool up a list. Ordering is by the thing the page says it is ordered by.
• No affiliate links in email. Messages from this site carry no paid links at all, ever. That is a rule we hold ourselves to and also a promise to our mail provider.

How the notes are written

• Tool facts come from the tool's own documentation, with the source linked, so you can check us.
• We say when we have not tried something. A tool described only from its documentation says so on its page.
• Where a tool has a rival that is better for a particular job, we say that too. The catalogue is more useful than it is flattering.

Advertising and tracking

There is none, and there are no advertising or analytics cookies — see privacy. If advertising is ever added it will not be behavioural, it will not involve a third-party script, and this page and the privacy page will both say so before it appears.

What we spend

The site generates its own artwork and drafts its own news summaries using paid AI services, under a hard spending cap enforced in the code. Every call is recorded in a ledger with what it cost, including the ones that failed. That is a note about how the site is built rather than a disclosure obligation — but it is the same principle, so it is here.
